It may surprise you to learn that I rarely turn on anything for background noise. No television, music or podcasts. The only times I do it is when I’m washing the dishes or taking a shower. Sometimes, if I need my gps to go through my car speakers I’ll turn on some music on my phone so that I can hear the gps lady speak (I don’t know why I have to do it this way but it does—older car I suppose.)
I just don’t like having noise on. It’s distracting, especially if I’m trying to accomplish something. Sometimes I put on nature music or soft piano music while I’m reading but even that’s rare.
It’s just overstimulating for me and I can’t think or concentrate when there’s a lot of noise.
What do you consider as overstimulating?
