This is hard because I don’t exactly obsess over characters anymore. I read the book say whether or not I enjoyed it before moving on. Sometimes I don’t even remember what happened after I read it.
I do, however, like the character Pippin in The Lord of the Rings. I think he has the most growth out of all the characters, especially the group of Hobbits. He’s funny, light-hearted and grows over the course of the books. I just enjoy him in spite of all the perceived silliness of him. I don’t think he’s silly, he just enjoys life more out of all the characters and I want to be that character. I also wouldn’t mind being Eowyn. She’s my favorite woman in the books because she’s not afraid to pick up a sword and fight for what she believes in, even when others tell her she needs to be at home and take care of her people. I think it’s very brave of her to go out on the battlefield and fight and protect Merry against the minions of Sauron. That’s just me.
I like Tyrion from the Game of Thrones books, but I don’t think I’d want to be him. He goes through a lot of struggle and doesn’t have many people who like him. Plus he nearly gets killed many times over. Generally, Westeros is not a place to live in, even though it’s populated by interesting people. I bet there’s periods of peace and happiness but that’s a boring book to read. I’d rather read about how people are fighting for the crown to be the king or queen of Westeros.
